- Authors

- Abstract
The article focuses on the imposition of Provisional Measure 2186 in Brazil, which limits the access of scientists to the biological resources of the country. It states that the said law requires drug companies and universities to pay indigenous communities a part of the profits they gain from traditional knowledge. Pharmacologist João Batista Calixto mentions that the law has discouraged companies to develop medicines derived from natural products from Brazil.
