Recommended nutrition-related practices for online food delivery companies.
- Authors
Vanderlee, Lana; Sacks, Gary
- Abstract
This article discusses the growth of the online food delivery (OFD) industry and the concerns raised about its potential negative impact on public health. It suggests recommended nutrition-related practices for OFD companies, such as developing corporate strategies related to nutrition and health, providing consistent and easily accessible nutrition information to consumers, and restricting the marketing of unhealthy foods to children. The article also provides an overview of how the OFD industry works, with a small group of aggregators acting as intermediaries between consumers and restaurants. The authors acknowledge the need for government regulation and further research on the healthfulness of OFD.
