- Title
Superman Goes to War: Teaching Japanese American Exile and Incarceration with Film.
- Authors
AUSTIN, ALLAN W.
- Abstract
The article discusses the animated film "Japoteurs". Particular focus is given to its application as a tool for understanding the internment of Japanese Americans during World War II. According to the author, the film's obvious biases can help students understand the ways in which white Americans often conflated Japanese Americans with the Japanese forces battling the U.S. Topics discussed include racism, documentary films, students' perceptions of World War II, and the role of the character Superman in American popular culture.
