- Abstract
This article discusses two cases of severe phototoxic reactions related to long-term outpatient treatment with voriconazole. Two cases of severe and worsening phototoxic skin reactions after prolonged outpatient treatment with voriconazole for invasive Aspergillus infections are reported. Late-onset dermatological side effects may compromise the use of voriconazole in the outpatient setting. Case 1 involved a 24-year-old Caucasian man with chronic granulomatous disease who reported a nonproductive cough, anorexia, low-grade fever and chest pain as well as a history of recent construction work in his house. Case 2 involved a 52-year-old Caucasian man with a history of smoking and type II diabetes mellitus who underwent aortobifemoral vascular grafting for an aneurysm of the abdominal aorta.
