- Abstract
The article presents a study that deals with the percutaneous alternatives to open valve surgery. A review is made on the techniques for the treatment of acquired valvular heart disease (VHD). The authors attempt to give a perspective on the future direction of this area of cardiology. They highlight the importance of percutaneous and minimally invasive treatment of VHD as an option for the high-risk group. The authors also stress that this area of cardiology should be used to involve closer working between cardiologists and surgeons to provide better patient care.
