- Abstract
This article, published in the journal "Ultrasound in Obstetrics & Gynecology," discusses the use of transvaginal ultrasound (TVS) in detecting bowel endometriosis (BE) and guiding surgical decisions. The authors propose the "pulling sleeve" sign (PSS) as a predictor for when to use a shaving technique (ST) during surgery. The PSS is characterized by a triangular-shaped BE nodule with an extrinsic reaction that etherizes the bowel. Preservation of a hyperechoic line in the muscularis propria suggests integrity of the inner circular muscularis layer (CML), making ST an appropriate surgical approach. Further studies are needed to evaluate the reliability and accuracy of the PSS in predicting ST.
