The present state of health economics: a critique and an agenda for the future.
- Authors
Zweifel, Peter
- Abstract
The author reflects on health economics which has two peculiarities. He mentions that one of the peculiarities is the association of the discipline with the general economic theory and the other is its relationship with sponsors of research and national institutions. He notes that health economists are seeking ways to neutralize the risk selection incentives of health insurers, however, the risk adjustment (RA) payments are shifted to the insured.
