- Abstract
The article presents a description and evaluation of cognitive interviewing (CI). It illustrates the qualities of CI as a valid and reliable practical means for forensic and health purposes. It defines CI as an approach associated by a set of distinct technique to accomplish its purpose to obtain factual information of events. It encourages interviewee to recall experience while interviewer needs to be socially skilled and attentive to promote qualitative interviewing. Furthermore, it recommends the need of an audio recording of the interview including sketches and other ancillary materials to gather large amount of data acquired by successive execution of the recall.
