- Title
Unintended Consequences: A Critical Review of Child Support Enforcement.
- Authors
THIES, CLIFFORD F.; WINN, JOHN
- Abstract
In the article, the authors examine the implementation of child support enforcement (CSE) in the U.S., particularly its failures and their consequences like alienating parents from their children rather than increasing support for custodial parents, reducing labor force participation, and increasing tension between communities and the police. Also cited is the history of the CSE system, including its mandate from the Social Security Act of 1935.
