- Title
BUSINESS VALUE FROM CLOUDS: LEARNING FROM USERS.
- Authors
Iyer, Bala; Henderson, John C.
- Abstract
Cloud computing enables firms not only to mitigate risks in today's hyper-competitive business environment, but also to gain competitive advantages. Based on field interviews with seven early adopter companies, supplemented by some published reports, the authors describe six cloud computing benefit patterns and five business-related strategic risks that can be managed using cloud computing. Dynamically dealing with a mix of legacy systems and cloud solutions is but one of the dimensions of management required today as companies compete as members of ecosystems that include such entities as competitors, complementors, infrastructure providers, development platform providers, and orchestrators.
