- Abstract
Herein, the study of a multicomponent alloy comprising Fe, Co, Ni, Ga, and Nb is presented. The study begins with analysis of small samples, and these samples results conducted to the production of a laminated alloy with composition FeCoNi(GaNb)0.20, which has its magnetostriction roundly determined. This alloy is found to have longitudinal magnetostriction of less than 5 ppm. In addition, the material shows high values of initial and maximum relative permeabilities of 1160 and 1340, respectively. The saturation magnetization of the alloy is 97.4 Am2 kg−1, and the electrical resistivity is 88 μΩ cm. Moreover, it is demonstrated that this alloy has good mechanical workability. Overall, the studied FeCoNi(GaNb)0.20 alloy has potential to be used in electric machines and magnetic devices that work in the subkilohertz frequency range.
