- Title
THINGS TO COME AND 'NEWSREEL': VERSIONS OF CINEMATIC INFLUENCE.
- Authors
Sillars, Stuart
- Abstract
The article offers poetry criticism of the poem "Newsreel" by Cecil Day Lewis in light of the 1936 film "Things to Come," directed by William Cameron Menzies. It is said that both the poem and the film show similar images of war in the context of pre-World War II Europe, including air raids against cities, falling masonry due to bombing, and an electric gun.
