- Authors
Fathalla, Mahmoud F.
- Abstract
This article focuses on the value of the reproductive health community in the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals (MDG) of the United Nations. Family planning services for women have been promoted for their impact on population growth and as health benefits for infants and children. Maternity services have long been designed to serve the objective of delivering a healthy baby. Proponents of the education of girls cite the advantages that such education will have for the survival and health of their children and the impact it will have on reducing birth rates. Improving women’s nutrition is justified because of the needs of the fetus and the breastfeeding infant.
