- Abstract
Sows from a crossbreeding of a commercial strain with the Moura breed have a higher expression of lipogenic genes in the mammary tissue compared to purebred sows. This study aimed to compare the expression of genes involved in milk fat synthesis in mammary explants of Moura breed and a crossbreeding commercial line x Moura. The results showed that the crossbred sows had significantly higher expression of genes responsible for de novo milk fat and triglyceride synthesis. However, the gene responsible for delta-9-desaturase, which is involved in the production of unsaturated fatty acids, was lower in crossbred sows. Overall, crossbred sows have a higher expression of genes responsible for milk fat synthesis compared to purebred sows.
