- Abstract
The article presents a research which investigates the inhibition of the response of the Sesamia nonagrioides to their own pheromone produced by the presence of the complete Ostrinia nubilalis pheromone and by each of its components separately. It reports that the study, which was carried out in a wind tunnel and by electroantennography (EAG), aims to compare this inhibition with the inhibition of the response of the O. nubilalis males to their own pheromone produced by the presence of S. nonagrioides pheromone. It discusses the ecological consequences and the possibilities of applying this cross-inhibition for mating disruption techniques. It concludes that the potentialities of pheromone response inhibitors for pest control should also be invistigated.
