- Abstract
This article explores the potential of computer simulation as a tool to overcome experimental and theoretical limitations in physics, with a specific focus on quantum mechanics. The objective is to numerically solve the Schrodinger equation, using the finite element method (FMD), for several potentials, including quartic, sixfold and eightfold harmonic and anharmonic oscillators. The study uses FMD, with support from the JupyterLab and wxMaxima platforms, for the diagonalization and discretization of the systems. Harmonic and anharmonic oscillators are investigated, with results that include energies, graphical representations of energy levels and comparisons with existing data for the quantum harmonic oscillator and quartic anharmonic oscillator. The article reinforces the effectiveness of this computational simulation approach, validating the results obtained in relation to the existing literature and contributing to the in-depth understanding of the physical systems under study.
