- Abstract
The implementation of full-time schools in Brazil represents a comprehensive educational approach that aims to provide students with a more complete and diversified education. Inspired by figures such as Anísio Teixeira and Darcy Ribeiro, pioneering advocates of comprehensive education, this modality seeks not only to increase students' time at school, but also to offer a wider range of educational activities and experiences. However, despite the recognition of the importance of full-time school in reducing social inequalities and in the integral development of students, its implementation faces significant challenges. Experts highlight the need for substantial investments not only in financial resources, but also in structural and pedagogical reforms to guarantee the quality and effectiveness of this educational model. Furthermore, the search for a harmonious integration between formal education and extracurricular activities emerges as a crucial aspect for the success of full-time schools. Full-time schools in Brazil represent a comprehensive and ambitious vision of education, seeking to go beyond the traditional school day model to offer a more enriching and equitable education to students. However, its implementation requires coordinated efforts and substantial investments to overcome structural challenges and ensure effective and quality implementation.
