- Authors
Riley, John; Schulz, Mario
- Abstract
The article disucses development policy and the role of security sector reform (SSR) in advancing human security in the 21st century. It discusses the two reasons behind international relations scholars' interest on SSR, which are the inclusion of SSR in Western countries' strategy to fight terrorism and provide development assistance, and SSR as a novel approach to development. It looks at the development and implementation of SSR, and the holistic development in the British Department for International Development (DFID).
