- Abstract
The article discusses the economic impact of earthquake and tsunami to the energy industry in Japan on March 11, 2011. It highlights the shutdown of the nuclear reactors for inspection, maintenance and repairs at the Fukushima Daiichi power station following the tsunami event. It stresses the efforts of the Japanese government to deal with the sudden loss of nuclear power associated with the decline of energy supply. It also cites the threat of blackouts to the energy supply for the households, industries and buildings across the country.
