Benzoyl peroxide has been widely used for various dermatological conditions by virtue of its antimicrobial, antifungal and keratolytic properties in addition to its use in the food and plastics industries. The aim of the study was to determine the patch test response to benozyl peroxide in acne patients irrespective of previous clinical reactions. The concentration in the commercial products ranged from 4 to 10%. 24 patients had previously used topical benzoyl peroxide preparations fur periods from 2 months to 5 years; among these, only 2 mentioned intolerance to the products.
