- Abstract
This article examines the treatment and outcomes of patients with pemphigoid gestationis (PG) and polymorphic eruption of pregnancy (PEP), two types of pruritic dermatoses that occur during pregnancy. The study analyzed medical records and direct immunofluorescence reports from 1995 to 2020. The findings revealed differences in patient characteristics, such as age, ethnicity, parity, gravidity, and gestation at rash, between the PG and PEP groups. The article also provides information on maternal outcomes, including the mode of delivery, for both conditions. The study concludes that PG tends to have an earlier onset and delivery, lower neonatal weight, and requires more systemic therapies for a longer duration compared to PEP. However, it is important to note that the study's retrospective design limits its findings.
