- Abstract
Acne keloidalis nuchae and folliculitis decalvans: same process affecting the follicle or coexisting diseases? Both diseases seem to occur in young and middle-aged male patients, leading to permanent hair loss.[[1]] According to the North American Hair Research Society (NAHRS) Classification[3], AKN is a mixed scarring alopecia, consisting of both lymphocytic and neutrophilic inflammatory cells, while FD is a predominantly neutrophilic inflammation. Also, in 100% of cases where AKN and FD presented together, FD lesions occurred alongside the AKN lesions in the occipital scalp.
