- Abstract
The article examines the role of the C-terminus of the phage λ Orf recombinase in binding to Escherichia coli single stranded DNA-binding protein (SSB) and whether the C-terminus of SSB was needed for Orf association. Orf and SSB proteins carrying mutations or truncations in the C-terminal region are analysed to help identify interacting domains. The results showed the involvement of carboxy-terminus in nucleic acid recognition and its unexpected role in maintaining structural integrity.
