- Abstract
The article presents a study to evaluates weather placement of an omental pedicle flap (OPF) decreases the incidence and severity of small bowel obstruction (SBO) in patients undergoing abdominoperineal resection (APR). Topics discussed include patients undergoing robotic, open, hand-assisted laparoscopic (HALS), and total laparoscopic APR; OPF not being associated with a decreased incidence of SBO, and the severity of the obstruction being less in patients with an OPF.
