- Abstract
The article presents a study of prostate-specific antigen (PSA) screening in elderly men who have limited life expectancies. The objective of the research study was to find the extent of PSA screening among elderly men. According to the article, male veterans aged 70 or older from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs facilities who did not have a history of prostate cancer, elevated PSA, or prostate cancer symptoms were screened. Researchers found that prostate-specific antigen screening rates among elderly men with limited life expectancies should be lower because of the known harms of screening.
