- Abstract
This reprint from JAMA is dated February 10, 1906 and focuses on lymphatism and the practice of medicine. "Lymphatism As a Family Disease" mentions medical terms that are no longer used, such as diatheses and temperaments, and the trend toward scientific terminology. Lymphatism or status lymphaticus was associated with sudden infant death. The condition was thought to be a family disease and the lesions appeared similar to those in bacterial infection. "Another Judge Defines Practice of Medicine" mentions the views stated in "American Medicine" which commented on Justice Joseph M. Deuel and how he defined the practice of medicine.
