- Abstract
This article reports on a bill granting the United States and the international community the ability to detect and contain pandemic disease outbreaks and the manufacture and release of potential bioterrorist agents which passed in the U.S. Senate on December 22, 2005. The Global Pathogen Surveillance Act of 2005, cosponsored by senate majority leader Bill Frist, states that the U.S. would work with the World Health Organization, regional health organizations, and individual countries to detect and contain bioterrorist agents or infectious disease outbreaks.
