- Abstract
A review of the film "Citizen Kane" (1941) opens a wide range of possibilities given the nature of the film's text. Welles himself acknowledged, through a conversation with co-script writer Mankiewickz, their interest in making "a 'prismatic movie', showing a man's life from different angles" (Kael, 1976: 68). Considering, then, the polysemic nature of this film, this article attempts a psychosocial analysis for it, employing a series of theoretical and conceptual categories from social psychology and psychoanalysis. We also frame our thinking on questioning the paradigmatic validity of this film in the current space-time coordinates.
