- Abstract
The article reports that severe multidrug-resistant bacterial infections are an important and increasing problem in intensive care units (ICUs) in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs), increasing case fatality. It states that in falciparum malaria, artemisinin resistance has emerged and is spreading in Southeast Asia, increasingly compounded by partner drug resistance in artemisinin combination therapies.
