An essay is presented on the misuse of the semicolon punctuation and its uses. It explores how semicolons can damage the work of a novice writer. It analyzes the use of the semicolon as a special tool for the mood, emotions, and character in Graham Greene's books "The Power and the Glory" and "The End of the Affair." It also emphasizes that semicolon and other punctuation marks matter in writing a poem, play or novel.
