- Abstract
The article discusses research on the association between long-term leisure time physical activity (LTPA) and bone properties. It references a study by Hongqiang Ma and colleagues, published on the March 30, 2009 online issue of the "Journal of Bone and Mineral Research." To identify the link between LTPA and bone properties, the researchers studied monozygotic (MZ) and dizygotic (DZ) twin pairs who have been discordant for LTPA for at least 30 years during adulthood. They also evaluated the effects of LTPA on volumetric bone mineral density (BMD).
