- Abstract
They found that infection rates by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) and severe cases of COVID-19 were substantially lower among those receiving the third dose of the BNT162b2 vaccine. To The Editor - We read with great interest the article by Van Praet et al [[1]] investigating the decline in humoral and cellular immune response after administration of 2 doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech 162b2 vaccine in coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19)-naive nursing home residents, a population particularly vulnerable to the disease. Meanwhile, it may be worthwhile to offer a booster vaccine dose, not only to elderly or immunocompromised patients, but also to healthcare staff, especially to COVID-19-naive individuals, because previous SARS-CoV-2 infection could make this unnecessary.
