- Abstract
The Leibniz Institute for the German Language advocates for mutual tolerance regarding the topic of "gendering". Linguistic research shows that language evolves and changes in language usage can be observed due to increased interest in gender equality. Gender-neutral forms such as double forms, neutralizations, and forms with gender symbols are increasingly being used. The various forms of gender-neutral language are controversially discussed, but the institute emphasizes that there is no one "correct" form and that the desire for gender equality in language should not be dismissed as ideological. The IDS is open to the topic of gender-neutral language and has adopted a gender-neutral statute.
