- Abstract
The article presents a cohort study focusing on the relationship of liver disease stage and antiviral therapy with liver-related events and death in adults coinfected with human immunodeficiency virus /hepatitis C virus (HIV)/(HCV). It states that HIV accelerates HCV disease progression, however, the effect of liver disease stage and antiviral therapy on the risk of clinical outcomes is incompletely understood. The study concludes that patients with HIV/HCV coinfection, hepatic fibrosis stage was related to a composite outcome of end-stage liver disease (ESLD), hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) or death.
