- Abstract
Cervical dystonia is the most common focal dystonia that causes abnormal head movements and postures, including head turning (torticollis), head tilting (laterocollis), neck flexion (anterocollis), and neck extension (retrocollis). Cervical dystonia is most commonly idiopathic, but it may be secondary to trauma, neurological disorders, posterior fossa and cervical cord pathology. Secondary dystonia is less common. Botulinum toxin injections are the most effective and first-line treatment for idiopathic cervical dystonia.
