- Abstract
To establish the prevalence of Toxoplasma gondii infection in sheep from Caras- Severin County, 580 of serological samples were assayed using ELISA test. The samples were collected from six localities. All tested animals were femals. To establish the prevalence of Toxoplasma gondii infection in sheep from Arad County, 250 of serological samples were assayed using ELISA test. The samples were collected from five localities. From each flock were collected 50 samples from sheep, working with similar lots. All tested animals were femals. To establish the prevalence of Toxoplasma gondii infection in adult sheep from Timis County, 600 of serological samples were assayed using ELISA test. 591 were females and 9 were males. The samples were collected from 12 localities, 50 samples from each flock. The flocks contains between 300 and 850 sheep. Generally, in Caras-Severin County the positivity for Toxoplasma gondii infection was more than 60%, with variations between 0 and 77.77%. In Arad County, the prevalence of infection was more than 40%, with variations between 26 and 70%. In Timis County, the seropositivity of T. gondli infection was 36.33%, with variations between 8 and 70%. The average prevalence in Western Romania was 46.7%.
