- Abstract
Born in Barcelona in 1911, Eudald Serra Güell began his artistic training in the 1920s and presented his first sculptures in 1934, just one year before his departure for Japan. From 1935, Serra spent thirteen years in Japan which profoundly marked his life and thus his artistic output. This study sheds light on the artist's career in Japan (1935-1948), revealing previously undescribed aspects of Serra's activity as well as unknown works in order to provide a detailed overview of his wide-ranging activities in Japan, his circle of friends and his interests associated with the mingei movement.
