- Abstract
The article discusses the nuances of pleural effusion (PE) after left ventricular assist device (LVAD) implantation. PE is a known complication of LVAD implantation and can impact patient outcomes. The study examines the clinical implications of PE, particularly the outcomes of therapeutic drainage (TD) and its effect on hospital stay duration and mortality rates. The study identifies predictors for late PE occurrences and emphasizes the need for tailored management strategies. However, the study's findings should be interpreted with caution due to its single-center design and small sample size. The study highlights the importance of preoperative assessment and optimization, as well as the need for differentiated management strategies based on the timing of PE occurrence. Overall, the study contributes to the existing knowledge on PE in the context of LVAD implantation and provides actionable insights for clinicians.
