- Abstract
The article highlights a study which identified and characterized youth with HNF-1α mutations using data collected by SEARCH, a multicenter, multiethnic study of physician-diagnosed diabetes mellitus (DM) among children. The researchers performed HNF-1α direct sequencing in a subset with negative DAA and FCP>0.8 ng/ml. In conclusion, among youth with MODY3 only 8% were diagnosed correctly using clinical criteria and the majority was treated with insulin rather than a sulfonylurea.
