- Authors
Castellano González, Cristina Isabel
- Abstract
The representation of short-haired women, also called pelonas, in the work of Diego Rivera is a subject that has not been studied much when compared to the numerous critical studies of the murals where they represent the mythical bodies of indigenous women. The objective of this article is to study the representation of women who appear in a panel that was created in the Ministry of Public Education in 1925, which is part of the Visión política del pueblo mexicano series and is located in El Patio de las Fiestas. This study develops a formal and aesthetic analysis of the work that is based on gender-study approaches to muralism and the analysis of chronicles and historical events of the time.
