- Abstract
Introduction: Anhedonia is defined as a diminished ability to experience interest or pleasure, and is a critical psychopathological dimension of major depressive disorder (MDD) [1] and is a commonly reported symptom among substance-dependent populations inside heroin addiciton [2]. Objectives: The purpose of this report is to review the clinical evidence for the potential role of agomelatine to treat anhedonia in heroin dependence and literature review. Methods: We conducted a systematic review of the literature with the principal database (PubMed, Enbase, PsychInfo) and we present a case report. Results: Agomelatine was shown to be effective on anhedonia, depression, and anxiety in a subject with dual diagnosis. Conclusions: To our knowledge in the literature there are no studies about the use of agomelatine to treat anhedonia in heroin addictited patient. We have any particular side effect and agomelatine was good tollerated. Further research is warranted to replicate our clinical and qualitative observations and, in general, quantitative studies in large samples followed up over time are needed. Methodological limitations, clinical implications and suggestions for future research directions are considered. Reference(s) [1] Cao B, et al., 2019; [2] Lubman DI, et al., 2018;.
