- Abstract
The article discusses issues concerning the experiences of African-Americans with multiple sclerosis. Our culture is marked by the glorification of physical perfection. Within such community, people with multiple sclerosis and others with chronic illness and disability are trying to change society's rules by refusing to accept a passive role and refusing to be defined as less than anyone else.
