- Abstract
In this article the authors discuss the significant reasons for the maintenance and expansion of hospital-based laboratories in Australia. The author states that there will be an increasing number of medical graduates who will compete for the training programme positions. They stress that the medically trained researchers will be involved in the hospital activities. The authors add that it will secure a place for the 21st century science and technology-based economies of Australia.
