- Abstract
The article discusses the existence of blackleg disease of tobacco brought by Pectobacterium carotovorum subsp. carotovorum in China. It presents the first case of the bacterium as an agent causing blackleg disease of tobacco seedlings in the floating tray system in China. Results show the condition of seedling groups prior to inoculation as well as the factors contributing to diseased seedlings. Symptoms of the diseases include development of brownish-black necrotic spots and soft rot of the seedling stems under conditions with high humidity and temperature leading to the death of the seedlings.
