- Abstract
Attitudes and values towards the environment have prompted organizations in society and a new culture of environmentally friendly behaviors. In seeking this culture and incorporate the principles of sustainability, the management of organizations is becoming increasingly complex, especially since the adoption of this approach requires inclusion of social and environmental variables in the values and actions and behaviors of individuals. The present study aimed to investigate the personal values and individuals ecological behaviors of employees of a company into the context of sustainability. Adopted the descriptive research, using a quantitative approach. Through a survey, we applied the instrument compound by Profiles Values Questionnaire (QVP), Tamayo and Porto (2009) and Ecological Behavior Scale (ECE), Pato and Tamayo (2006). We identified the profile of employees' personal values and the prevailing ecological behaviors. The set of personal values examined pointed to figures for the motivational types of universalism, security, compliance, benevolence and self-determination. As for green behavior raised, we highlight those related to water and energy savings and street cleaning. Among the main findings, we highlight the relationships between values and ecological behaviors that were manifested in a different sense of the initial assumptions.
