- Abstract
The article discusses a study that analyzed the diet of the Great Cormorant based on both pellets and regurgitated fish found in Cormorant colonies. Possible spatial and temporal variation in the diet was studied between 3 colony island and 2 areas within the Bay Lovstabukten in the northern Baltic Sea, Sweden. Materials were gathered during the Cormorant breeding period which occurred between mid-Aprila and August in 2005 and mainly concentrated in the nesting areas. Results indicated that the most important prey at Bay Lovstabukten were Herring, European Perch and Eelpout and that diet composition varied depending on the breeding season due probably to fish behavior and varying abundance.
