- Abstract
The article focuses on the clinical guidelines for the identification of melanoma of the foot and nail. It says that amelanotic melanoma develops in the nail unit as it is does at other acral locations in which the lack of overt pigment seems to delay the diagnosis and affects prognosis. It adds that patients with suspected melanoma should be seen by a specialist within two weeks of presentation under the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) guidelines in Great Britain.
