Aim: To know the evidence about the factors related to compassion fatigue among health professionals in Oncology and Palliative care. Methodology: Systematic review. Strategy of search in databases: Pubmed, Cuiden, Cinahl and Psycinfo. 87 documents were founded, 77 excluded because of inclusion criteria and one for low methodological quality. Finally, 6 descriptive studies, 2 qualitative and 1 quasi-experimental studies were included. Results: Compassion fatigue has been associated with burnout syndrome and negatively correlated with compassion satisfaction. Compassion fatigue levels varies between professionals, being higher in nurses and doctors. Factors such as selfcare, working conditions, and worker's health affect their development. Prevention strategies focus on the empowerment of health professionals, training and periods of withdrawal. Conclusions: It is necessary to raise awareness among health workers about the psychological problems that may be experienced as a result of caring for people in palliative situation and to promote prevention though different interventions.
