- Abstract
Economically developing countries have an opportunity to improve the long-term prospects for their national economy through attracting successful firms in developed countries that are seeking global expansion opportunities via global outsourcing. In order to maximize these potential benefits, developing countries need to create the necessary economic, technological, and political infrastructure that will support an aggressive strategy for attracting competitive and economically viable firms searching for serious and long-term outsourcing partnerships. Developing countries that desire to achieve the benefits of the increased economic activities which are forecasted for the next few decades should consider the following strategies to attract the best global partners. First, assess the relevant strengths that can become the backbone of a national economic enhancement program. Secondly, developing countries must practice what might be termed "gorilla investing"; that is a program of highly selective investments in only the few most opportunistic industry areas.
