- Abstract
The article focuses on a comparative study regarding the toxic effects of red tide flagellates Heterocapsa circularisquama and Chattonella marina on short-necked clams. It notes that harmful algal blooms or the so-called red tide often cause mass mortality of cultured fishes and other marine organisms. Results revealed that Heterocapsa circularisquama has demonstrated higher toxic effects than Chattonella marina wherein clams exposed to such have a profound reduction in filtration activity.
